September 4, 2009Welcome to TutorialsPortal, to those you who are new! Don't worry, I won't say that every week - perhaps next time I will say something more witty! We've all had a lot of fun here with this website since its launch, and looks like many of you have too. Thank you to all of you for the wonderful comments on last week's newsletter and tutorial. We love getting feedback on our work, so please keep it up! There are a few things in life that are so insanely good (like this newsletter!), it's impossible to stop. Like the lava cake I was eating this afternoon. I unfortunately did have to stop when my stomach started to hurt, but it was worth it! Delicious. And, I'd do it again, and you can't stop me. We have an ongoing infatuation here in the office that hits us every once in a while, and that's cheesecake. Though the delectable desert sounds fabulous, I'm referring to the ladies that keep appearing in our tutorials. Take any idea and throw a female in the picture and it seems to make it so much better… and this week is no exception! Our tutorial this week was done by John Overbee. He's made a real hottie with the creation of this lava woman. Her molten flesh adorned with flames and sparks, she'll set your heart on fire! I'd try to stay on her good side though, she looks like she could be a real hot head. Also, don't forget to check out our other tutorials down below. Learn how to make an edgy wallpaper with Inglorious Desktop, speed life up a little with a Fast Moving Car, or maybe cool down with some Icy Text. Drink up! Seeya again next week. by John OverbeeIn this tutorial I will show you how to manipulate a regular picture of a woman in a bathing suit standing in front of rocks, to a lava woman on fire with a explosion in the background. ![]() First download this image or find one of your own. Next cut out the woman from the picture using which ever method you prefer. I will use the pen tool because that usually works the best for me. Once you make a selection around her copy and paste her back in the canvas. Now you should have 2 layers. After that I am going to copy the background from the image (the part surrounding the woman) by using the layer we just made. So make sure layer 1 is chosen then hold down ctrl on your keyboard and click on the icon beside your new layer.
